Per-block analytics — which button gets clicked most?
Get insight into which specific block (button, image or badge) in your Drag & Drop banner gets the most clicks.
Per-block analytics
In a Drag & Drop banner you can place multiple clickable elements: a button, a clickable image, a badge with a URL. Until last week MailManagers only showed you if your banner got clicked — not which element. Now it does.
Where to find it?
- Open a Drag & Drop banner in the editor (Banners → pick a banner)
- In the sidebar there's the section 📊 Stats per block
- Expand it → live stats per clickable block
What do you see?
- Total views — how often the banner was loaded by recipients
- Total clicks — how often someone clicked somewhere in the banner
- Per block: clicks + percentage of total, with a visual bar
Example:
- 🔵🔵🔵🔵🔵 Button "View more" — 67% (134 clicks)
- 🔵🔵 Image — 33% (66 clicks)
Which blocks are tracked?
- ✅ Button block — if a URL is filled in
- ✅ Image block — if the image has a click URL
- ✅ Badge — if a URL is set
Blocks without a URL (text, divider, spacer, review) don't appear in stats — there's nothing to track.
How does the tracking work?
Every clickable URL in a Drag & Drop banner is automatically routed through our tracking redirect. The recipient doesn't notice (the redirect is over within 50ms). The tracking URL contains a safe block id, no target URL — no open-redirect risk.
Server-side lookup: on each click our server looks up the corresponding block in the banner data and forwards the visitor to the right URL.
Tips
- Make two buttons if you want to test two call-to-actions. After a few hundred views you'll know which works better.
- Combine with A/B testing: place two complete banner variants in a banner group with experiment mode. Per-block stats work automatically per variant.
- Use clear labels: badge text and button text are what appears in stats. Use recognisable labels ("View promo" beats "Click here") so you can see at a glance later which block you meant.
Common pitfalls
- "My button isn't showing in stats" — check that the URL is filled in in the Inspector. A button without URL isn't tracked.
- "Stats stay at 0" — this only works for Drag & Drop banners (block mode). Classic template banners have one click URL for the whole banner, no per-block tracking.
- "Counts seem too high" — if your banner is in multiple signatures or campaigns, every unique click counts. That's correct.
